Imagine having the opportunity to meet and shoot one of your favorite bands. It seemed a little far fetched when last August I began tweeting at a band I've listened to over 20 years. It started out as a dream mixed with hope that by tweeting each day for a month I would get the opportunity to photograph the band known for Send Me On My Way. It only took 4 days for them to respond, within a week I was informed by Rusted Root's publicist I would have front stage access to shoot the band's first three songs of their upcoming concert.
Just a few months later the band announced they would be returning to the area for another concert and again I reached out to the band, this time in the hope I'd meet them and conduct an official photo shoot. Well, persistence and hope paid off and again I was granted another great opportunity. A 30 minute shoot with a band who plays a role in my life's soundtrack.
In the days leading up to the shoot I was a bit nervous not knowing exactly what to expect. I wondered if the band would be as cool and laid back as I imagined. I hoped they would be. Well, 30 minutes with the band lasted for over an hour. The band was warm, welcoming, playful, and seemingly in no hurry to end their time with me. I came away with some great images and an experience I won't soon forget.
